How to send an email that can't be opened?

Did I just lose a file if I opened it from an email click saved and closed?

  • I am doing a term paper, I did part of it at school and just emailed it to myself so I could do at home, and when I opened it and typed majority of the paper I had clicked save and opened my email, and just right clicked the window to close because I know I cant send it as an attachment if it's open, and I didnt realize I hadn't saved it to my computer. Did I just lose this file? Please tell me there is a way to recover this file, I really don't want to retype four pages.

  • Answer:

It should be in the computer. You just have to find the folder. Try opening another file in an email, and then check the folder it it destined to go to. Perhaps My Documents.

I've done that and have not found it yet, I also tried the outlook temporary folder even though mine is in hotmail/windows live, and have been unsuccessful. Do you know any other way of finding it?

Type a distinctive word in the search box, either in the email or Explorer. If you have Google Desktop, use it ahead of the explorer. In the worse case, you lost what you typed, but if you haven't turned off the computer in the meantime it should be somewhere. . . .

Check your drafts folder, depending on what email you use - it might be there; or at least most of it.
