Why cpulimit makes process STOPPED?

AVG stopped working, downloaded Vipre, trial ran out, AVG won't download, goes through set up process and stops. HELP.

  • I am using windows vista, and have always had AVG, but no matter what I try I get stopped. I even tried an older version but was told the newer one was on there, which it isn't, I've looked! I don't know if its because Vipre is still on there (I don"t know if it makes a difference with the trial having run out). I really need help, I use my computer a lot for uni!!!!!

    Look under "Add or remove programs" in your Control Panel. If you see AVG or Vipre, uninstall those and try again. If it still won't work you can try doing a system restore to a restore point before you installed Vipre. If it still won't work at that point, try another antivirus program. I've heard good things about Microsoft Security Essentials, and it's free.

Thank you so much! Managed to install Microsoft Security Systems, and feel a lot easier about it all!

AVG is a pretty good anti-virus software, but it does not play well with others. You should expect to find compatibility problems, which is why that is one of the anti-virus free systems I do not have.

On your keyboard hold ctrl+alt+del, click the Services tab, you will encounter a text box with a bunch of words. If you look to the top of the bar, there is usually a column under the words ;name; PID; Description; Status; Groups and etc. Click on ;name; that column should organize the column from A to Z or Z to A. Scroll for anything that is related to Vipre; if you find anything related right click on the selected word and click ;stop. After stopping every Service related to Vipre, try and download AVG again. We did this, because there might be a good chance that your anti virus is interrupting AVG's download process. (Or remove Vipre using DCComet's procedures.)
