91 accord won't start?

My 91 honda accord will not start. Put in new battery, it is getting fuel, it tries to start but wont actually turn over

  • New battery, is getting fuel. I checked for a code but nothing popped up. I did get it to start a few times when being jumped, but that was after multpile tries i may have just gotten lucky at the moment. When it would start how ever i wouldnt make it very far before it died on me. I cant think of what to try next.

  • Answer:

Well you have to figure out if it's losing gas or spark. Pull off the center wire going to the distributor cap and hold it 1/4 inch from the engine block while somebody cranks the engine. You should get a big blue spark. If not, your coil or ignition module is failing. If you are getting a spark, remove one of the spark plugs and crank the engine. You should get a blast of gasoline-ey smelling air coming out of the hole. If not, then it's not getting gas.

Have a garage with a Snap On Tool Computer system set up plug it in and see what it says. Garages pay about $8500 per year to keep the software current on their machine. Your problems could be a myriad of different things at this point. A guess? Bad starter.
