What Are The Best Bath Salts?

What is the benifits of Epsom salts in the bath water, does it relax the muscles?

  • Or does the epsom salts just affect the skin?

  • Answer:

The warm bath water relaxes the muscles. The Epsom salts let you stay in longer because your skin doesn't wrinkle so much and the water has a better feel. From Wikipedia: Effects of bath salts Salts change the osmotic balance of the water so that less water is absorbed by the skin via osmosis.... Some bath salts act as water softeners and change the way soap rinses. Some confusion may arise after a first experience with soft water. Hard water does not lather well with soap and can leave a sticky feeling. Soft water lathers better than hard water but feels slippery for a longer time during rinsing of soap, even though the soap is coming off faster, because the soap remains soluble. High concentrations of salts increase the density of the water and increase buoyancy which makes the body feel lighter in the bath. Very high concentrations of salts in water are used in flotation therapy.

Epsom salts are supposed to relax the muscles, although the hot water helps a lot too. If you want salts that really help relax the muscles try Dead Sea Salts. They have a higher mineral concentration and are great for things like muscles and blood circulation in addition to helping your skin.
