What could cause pain in my jaw to the point that it hurts for me to eat, talk. or even open it at all?.

I caught, or rather didn't catch, a bounding baseball on the chin and thought I was going to need to be rushed to emergency. It doesn't require a whole lot of force to jar a mandible to the point where one is uncomfortable and anxious for the off-set temporal effect. It took 3 or 4 days, lots of water, lots of sleep. If you didn't take one on the chin, is it something like TMJ where yoga, butterflies' havens, a howitzer,your healthy children, and biofeedback all can ease those 'biting' nerves and muscles,no conscious fault of yours, mind you, but when you sleep you may 'bite down hard' to keep your very biological state of existence from feeling as if it is not doing enough to stand for what it knows is right---in the 'heart'---as is a way in which we are that acts in an accord irregardless if one is awake and aware, or asleep. The heart does not change in its determinism simply because we sleep. The stuff of dreams that sometimes are amazingly helpful in our lives would not exist if the heart had to rest each night as does our "will of the wak-ed".Oh we can fight sleep and win, mostly, but all those wick-ed candles could topple when you finally collapse with that cigarette in your mouth, and dead up stairs is a consequence of staying up with your heart. Our hearts are like reactors of our loving---but also, at in synch, is each our hearts like a vampire with a street-drug problem: the heart pumps, it is a blood-sucker and a pusher. In pun I pray you understand , in pray I drift asleep, as has been for all always, and we must leave our hearts to act upon their own natural alliance---not purely biologically like the vampire, but spiritually, like the love. Sounds like you have an abscessed tooth, and the infection may have already spread to your jaw. You need to get to the dentist ASAP, ID it is an abscess, if ignored you can do major Irreversible damage to your jaw, and some major jaw surgery.

A dentist might do, but don't let it linger.

TMJ?

I have TMJ in my jaw, caused by the uncontrollable urge to chew my cheeks. According to what I've researched online, it's probably due to my bite being off. But my jaw clicks and when I wake up, it's sometimes difficult to open it all the way. Does your jaw click? Do you chew things repeatedly like your nails, your cheeks, etc.? If so, it's a huge possibility you have TMJ and if you do, you need to see a dentist. But not just any dentist, one who's been trained in TMJ because not all of them have.
