How to sell a great idea for a TV show?

I have an idea for a tv show but I don't know where to begin. Any advice?

I have an idea for a tv show and no...it's not a reality show (we have too many of those). I won't say directly what the show would be about but it is a travel/culture type show. I think it would be perfect for E! and more so the travel channel. I went to the travel channel website and kind of did some research. They won't accept pitches from normal people but instead production companies. I live in the Atlanta area and found only one major production company that people know of...Tyler Perry Studios. How should I even begin on asking for help on packaging and sending my idea to the travel channel or E! thru a production company? Will that cost me money?
