What Americans mean exactly when they say “we brought freedom to Iraqis”?

  • They say we brought you freedom by getting rid of the dictator Saddam and by freedom they mean (no water, no electricity, many sorts of persecutions and of course killing people is all over Iraq) Do they still think Iraq/Iraqis deserve freedom? Because it’s obviously doesn’t suit Iraqis at all!!

    What it means is we finally removed our former "pet dictator" and installed another puppet government which will only last as long as American troops stand behind him. Ow yes - and it means we "freed" about a million Iraqis from "the burden of living" with our last war. By the way - have they found any of those nasty "weapons of mass destruction" yet?

Democracy, by its very nature, cannot be imposed. Besides, is it really democracy if you start by banning one group from participating in elections? Anyway, that mantra about freedom was not addressed to the Iraqis. It was addressed to the American public, to buy THEIR support for the war.

What they mean is that we're trying to establish a working Republic in Iraq. Freedom has nothing to do with water, electricity, or even rampant homicide. We're talking about their form of government, not their life style.
