  Build a DrivewayLoad the Sims family that you would like to play. Click "Build" mode and choose the "Garage" icon. You must have the "Sims 2 Nightlife" expansion installed to see this button in your "Build" mode. Place a driveway on your lot. The driveway needs to connect directly to the street in front of your Sims' house. Make sure you have room on your lawn at the end of the driveway to build the garage.Build a GarageClick on the "driveway extension piece" from the "Garage" section of the "Build" mode. Place the rectangular driveway extension at the end of your driveway, connecting the two together. Place a garage door from the "Build" mode at the point where the extension and the driveway meet. Build three walls along the outside of the rectangular driveway extension, connecting two of them to the sides of the garage door. Place a roof on top of the walls to complete your new garage.
