How to remove my Alpine stereo?

How do I remove an Alpine TDA-7563 Cassette Car Stereo installed in my BMW 528e?

  • I've been told that it takes special thin metal "keys" to release the "catch" on each side, but on inspection this doesn't seem doable. After removing the front panel, there are no visible screws that hold it in place. Desperate need of a clue.

  • Answer:

you will have to have access to the back of the device, probably by opening up the dash of your car. look for screws in the bottom part of the dash. disconnect the cables from the back and maybe unlock some latches that hold it in place. When everything is loose, your device should be able to slide easily outwards the dashboard.

Other answers

My belated thanks for your answer! But my car doesn't have any access to the "back" of the device. I've tried removing the dashboard enclosure surrounding the stereo unit but to no avail. Whatever way it's done has to be through the front access. I managed to get the installation specs from the manufacturer that may give a clue. Thanks just the same.
