How to record screen with sound at the same time?

Emerson HiFi VCR: Unit will play and record EP tapes and programs very well, but sound comes in and out during SP pre-recorded playback

• Have an Emerson HiFi VCR but had same problem with previous machine: Unit will play and record EP tapes and programs very well, but whenever i playback a pre- recorded movies sound will phase in and out.. However when i go to menu, the sound will stay consistent the entire time I'm on the menu blue screen; but as soon as I leave menu to return to regular picture sound drops in and out again...Has to be something relatively simple right?

  If you select mono sound you will probably find the sound stays steady. If this is the case then the video head drum (this also records the stereo sound in some machines) may be dirty or worn. Different heads are used during EP (or LP) and SP (Standard Play). Most of these machines use 6 heads on the drum plus the usual analogue audio/control and erase head (Ace) and a complete erase head. If you know how to do it, clean them all with methalated spirit or alcohol manually or try a wet cleaning tape (Wet means one that comes with a cleaning fluid).
