HP PHOTOSMART PLUS printer. Paper roller is stuck in up position. How do I get it back down without breaking it

Have you tried turning the unit off? Wait 5 minutes than turn it back on? That should make it go through the start-up routine,resetting the rollers to home position. Do you still have the manuals? It will have a troubleshooting guide, try that. if that doesn't help you can try calling HP for support. If the printer is under warranty, take it in. If out of warranty toss it and buy a new one. Printers are cheap, they are made to be disposable, it costs a lot less to buy a new one than to get one fixed out of warranty. Plus buying a new one you'll get a unit with a warranty. I used to do Apple computer and printer hardware repair, certified by Apple, did warranty work. Disabled now, no longer working :-(

Thanks for your reply trekincat! I appreciate your time & effort, but we just now got it fixed... In case anyone has the same problem in the future... My husband found a wheel near the roller hinge, turned it forward a few turns & the roller lowered back down to where it belonged. A simple enough fix, but after almost 3 hours on the phone, HP TECH SUPPORT refused to tell me how to do it! They wanted me to pay them for the info... [it wasn't in the manual either]
