How long does hay fever last?

How can you tell if your 3 1/2 year old has allergies, hay fever, or something else?

  • My daughter has been coughing for about a month now: she's had coughing, runny nose/eyes, and an occasional fever. I took her to the doctor and she put her on prednisolone, singulair, and suprax. So I was doing some research, wondering if she maybe had hay fever....? How long should I give to try the medications?

    I guess all you can do is see if you can spot any symptoms,then give the child some approved child allergy medication and see if it helps,other than that have a Doctor test the child.

the meds the dr gave you prednisolone is a steroid, singulair is for allergies, suprax is an antibiotic for bacterial infections. It takes a 24 to 48 hours for meds to start working. Also keep in mind how is the weather where you live people here are getting these same symptoms including everyone in my house because its hot for two days and threatening to rain the next four its to drastic for our bodies to adjust to the climate change. Another thing thats helpful is if shes congested to rub vicks on her chest back and feet

typically, allergies do not cause a fever, however.

just so you know - hay fever is a common name given to a common blend of grass and pollen allergies - and does not involve a fever.
