What road bike to get out of these two?

I'm in my late 50's and generally get strong neck pain after riding my road bike for two or more hours.

  • Answer:

Ride shorter periods of time and you won't get the pain. Your neck muscles aren't what they used to be. That's the real problem.

look into getting a Temper-Pedic standard style neck pillow. It is the best "cure" fur neck pain and neck related problems. Also a big help for shoulder problems as well. I've been using one for years and hubby now uses one as well. They are pricey but are worth it.

I'm in my fifties and get strong neck pain from sleeping. We're doing something wrong. Part of the problem is that once the relevant muscle is "hurt," continuing the activity (i.e., continuing to sleep), merely continues to aggravate the sore muscle. Maybe you should take a few days off from road bike riding.

I would suggest a recumbant bike! My friend Glenn swears by his. There are several styles and designs. You should look into the reason you're having the pain via your Dr.
