can you transfer vhs movies (not home movies but movie movies) to dvds?

Answer:
Yes, there are a couple ways: 1) Buy a TV input card for your desktop and install it. Connect the VCR output to the TV input card with the proper cable. Use the recording software and copy away. (TV Card $75-100 plus your time to install) 2) Buy a VCR-to-USB player. It is basically a VCR with a USB cable that attaches to your PC. Install the software and you're off. Cost, for a good one $200, for an average one, around $80. Early VHS Video tapes were generally not copy protected, although later ones started to be. Actually they simply didn't play back with totally good fidelity. Once you have the movie on the PC, burn as usual.
