What material is used for potato chip bags?

Why don't potato chip bags and the inner bags in ready-to-eat breakfast cereals have zip-lock tops?

  • Bagged snacks go stale quickly when opened. I don't think anyone truly uses those "chip clip" devices (if you remember where you put them). And those inner bags in cereal boxes????? Sh*t.....you can starve by the time you get them open. They tear if you don't open them just so. I'm tired of needing to bring a pair of scissors with me to the breakfast table. Am I alone in feeling this way?

  • Answer:

They don't need ziplocks, potatoe chips and cereal are already expensive, why make it worse? I fold the bag down right and use heavy duty paper clips instead of the useless "chip clip", I have a dozen of them in my utinsel drawer.

I would guess expense. I admit that some things that consumers would never repackage are packaged in zip lock bags for retail sale. I've wondered about that before.

And take that money out of profits to fit the production line with it? Unheard of (and yes, very very stupid)
