How do I connect my TV, surround sound, cable box and DVD?

How do I connect my TV, surround sound/dvd player, and comcast digital cable box together using one HDMI cable?

  • Answer:

You don't. I mean, you can, but then you have to use composite video cables for part of the path, and that reduces picture and/or sound quality. You are better off investing in a couple more HDMI cables (about $5 at wal-mart) One important clarification - is the surroundsound DVD player a real 5:1 or 7:1 AV Media Center, or just a fancy amplifier? Does it have HDMI ports? That makes a difference. If so, then here is what I would so: Cable box ---HDMI--> AV Center -----HDMI--> TV If the Surroundsound is just an DVD player amplifier, then Cable Box -----HDMI--> \ ____TV HDMI Input 1 ____TV HDMI Input 2 / Surroundsound ---HDMI->
