How To Verify Death?

If i cease to maintain contact with all members of this site as a result of free choice or death, will you think i was not the *me* you thought i was, if no one can verify that i actually did exist?

    If you decided to never contact me again I would have to live in hell for the rest of my life wondering what happened to my best friend. That is worse than death. I would continue to believe you were who I thought you were. I also know that if at all possible you would have left word with someone, should something happen as I would do for you. At least a piece of paper with my email or phone number. I trust you to not leave me empty with no answers. That would be cruel but I would still love you.

I probably wouldn't think twice about it, unless you'd made promises you had no intention of keeping, like bequeathing people money, for example. Raising your friends' hopes for a better life and then disappearing without a trace is downright cruel. To leave people hanging, with no explanation - it's impossible to understand why anyone would do such a thing.

Why would anyone go to the trouble of verifying it? Peole come and go..some give reasons for their departure and some simply disappear. Frankly, I wouldn't think about it at all unless I had reason to be suspicious. One door closes and 25 more open up. How do we know for sure anyway? People can lie convincingly for a long time..some are very good at conning others, playing games, enjoying pulling the wool over people's eyes. It makes them feel superior and clever you see. I wouldn't think twice about it. I don't think about it at all. I take people at their word because I am honest with them. If I'm wrong, I'm wrong! :) ((hugs))
