How do I send an email message with Outlook?

I use Outlook 2000 on a m/c running XP. When I send an email to a group/list I get an error message saying that the email cannot be sent as "one or more of the recipients have an invalid email address" BUT it does not say which ones. How do I send it?

  • Answer:

You're going to have to divide and conquer... i.e. find the entry in the list which does not conform to the requirements. An email address should have a user name and a domain name, i.e. "user" @ "name". There are some characters that are not allowed, so look for unusual characters in the names of the recipients on the list. Outlook is only checking the *format* of the names on the list -- it has no way of knowing whether or not the recipients' addresses still exist or are misspelled, etc. So you don't have to worry about that, just find the one with the bad format. You can test individual addresses for conformance here: http://www.yellowpipe.com/yis/tools/email-validator/verify_email.php
