What is a good home page? without animated advertisements, with news

I ppresently use Yahoo, but they have an animated ad that's slowing my computer down when it loads.

I use iGoogle for a home page. A little wx, time, headlines, and can be customized.

iGoogle, as <dgjones> said. Pick your page showings, from nothing to lots. You can omit the animated stuff (which too often doesn't work anyway, such as the solar system gadget.) Besides the link to Google news, you can have Google news be one of the home page boxes.
