How good is Avatar 3D?

How was the movie "Avatar" if its good in 3D would it be worth having in 2D?

    Actually, I've watched about 20 minutes in 2D and it is STUNNING!!! 3D obviously adds another layer to the movie, but Avatar is is gorgeous in 2D!

Its got a good story though, right. I've heard the story was so so. What do you think?

Yeah, the story's theme is 1990's environmentalism, save the Amazon sort of plot. I rolled my eyes at a few points. Seems like the planet is full of unobtainium but they have to have the deposit under the aboriginal folk's giant tree. Heck, you have these floating rocks that must be full of the stuff to be able to float. How come they just don't mine those? But everything else about the movie is spectacular. I think it's the prettiest movie I've ever seen!
