Im trying to hook up a perfect media center but need advice?

im trying to find a good ubuntu based linux distro for a remote desktop any suggestions?

  • specificly i need a smaller remaster with little system requirements. im trying to set this up onto an older computer. it would also be nice if it could be connected to via internet [as well as L.A.N.] Im going to use xubuntu for now but id prefer something a bit more aesthcetic. it will be used to : Backup files, syn media players wirelessly [and hopefully while im not home], and mainly as a remote media center application. id also like to retain other functionalities as well. thanks!

    Check out YLMF. The download site is in China and it will take 8 hours to download, but it's worth it. it's Ubuntu that looks like Windows XP. Really cool! Get the English version which is 1.0. If you get the other one, it'll be in Chinese.

thanks but im not a windows fan whatsoever so what i ment was something more along the lines of xubuntu lubuntu puppy. something which is fast small and has amazing remote desktop capabilities. that being said if you have any slightly quirky suggestions go ahead!

Well, what are you running it on that you have to have such a small operating system? In any event, there's a program called FreeNX that will run on Ubuntu. https://help.ubuntu.com/community/FreeNX >> I have a YMLF disc I copied online in a few minutes.
