What is the best value streaming Netflix player we can get for Christmas? Low cost, no games or DVD player included.
-
We have a Netflix account and the lowest high speed Internet from AT&T. The TV we want to view streaming video from Netflix from has a built-in DVD player and we're not interested in paying more for games we won't use. Just basic Netflix streaming on the TV. We'd like a way to make the volume louder if we can. I'd also like to know if streaming Netflix slows down the Internet connection. We'd like to see movies straight to the TV as if on DVD, no interruptions without paying too much for it

Answer:
Well, the cheapest would to simply use your PC to stream the shows. Wouldn't cost you anything. Or you can get the Roku player for $59. http://www.roku.com/netflixplayer/#chart

Thanks, I saw that one, but was wondering if we could find one cheaper. We've tried to all watch on a laptop before, but not everyone can see and hear on it, and it's more comfortable to use the TV and sit where you want. But even with the TV, we have to turn the volume all the way to 50 for my dad to hear, and even then he misses a lot and needs to read the captions. Hmm, there are probably not captions on Netflix TV. I was wondering if we also need to upgrade our Internet to use it so it won't have to stop and load so often. Thanks again for responding so quickly with a link to send my dad since he's the one wanting to give it to us. We were afraid you had to sign in to Netflix on my mom's account to get it, and that could spoil the surprise. But then I saw that a lot of devices are available outside of Netflix, so I wrote to try to get the best one for us.

>>We've tried to all watch on a laptop before, but not everyone can see and hear on it<< Uh, you would connect the laptop to the TV, not try to watch it on a laptop. You need a VGA cable and a stereo mini to RCA plugs. >>wondering if we could find one cheaper. << Cheaper than $59? That's pretty cheap. You'll spend a lot more on your NetFlix subscription than for the Roku player. >> I was wondering if we also need to upgrade our Internet to use it so it won't have to stop and load so often.<< I think a lot of people are complaining about buffering. If your connection is 3 mb or higher, then your connection is probably fine.

Your best bet is to buy Roku LT Streaming Player. It's really basic and you should be able to stream your Netflix movies straight to the TV without any problems. Get a closer look at the Roku Media Player http://www.squidoo.com/roku-media-player
