How do I get rid of my yahoo toolbar?

I have a Yahoo! Toolbar advertisement in my Firefox browser that won't go away. How do I get rid of it?

  • Whenever I use Google to do a search, the following text pops up: Search faster with the Yahoo! Toolbar Just type into your toolbar and get the info you want without navigating to a separate search page. Start searching with Yahoo! Toolbar today The message persists in the top-left corner no matter what web page I subsequently navigate to. Also, if I open new tabs in Firefox, the message appears on the new tabs. The only way I've found to get rid of it is to close Firefox. Is there a better way to get rid of the message or (even better) stop it from appearing?
