Why can't my PSP start up?

i got my psp wet now its doing weird stuff! how do i fix it?

  • OK well my psp got a little wet, and now its doing weird stuff, ill list them. 1. the start button does not function. 2. when i put the psp into sleep mode it also acts as though i pressed the start button. 3. when ever the psp keyboard comes up it just goes down a split second after. 4. i cant scroll around in the web browser (i.e holding down square and using directional buttons.) But i can scroll normally. how do i fix those problems? I can still play games and stuff, but the above is still really anoying!

  • Answer:

leave it turned off ... there is probably still some water in there affecting the circuits ... it needs to dry out completely, and one thing to try is to bury it for 24 hours in a bowl of uncooked white rice, which will absorb all the moisture

Never run electronics while they are wet, it causes electrolysis of the water and the calcium in the water will combine with the solder and copper and you will have a totally new circuit of corroded resistance shorts. I am a retired electronics technician, ive seen it over and over. You should have let it dry completely before powering it up. Have it dry by moving air, such as a house fan for a few days straight.
