What are some great games for a computer?

Can someone please explain to me what's so great about computer games such as World of Warcraft or League of Legends?

• My bf and his brother are obsessed with those games (my bf with League of Legends, his brother World of Warcraft) and they've been trying to get ME into that, but I just can't see myself being hunched over the computer playing things like that when I have stuff to do (school, looking for work, friends, LIFE lol). (My bf just turned 21 by the way, and it's a little scary when he says he doesn't know what to do with his life, but plays that game incessantly O_O his bro is 17, so I guess its kind of ok... for now O_o) Any opinions?

  I am sure that you have things you do in your free time, like watching tv or going out drinking, or whatever it is that you enjoy. Well, instead of watching TV, I play video games. It's a nice recreational diversion, sedentary enough that I can do it after work when I'm feeling tired, but competitive enough that it keeps my mind alert and forces me to improve my hand-eye coordination. I prefer it to TV because it's something I can interact with instead of just passively watching. Also, I can cooperatively play with my friends. Granted, I already have a life, and a degree, and a career, and friends, and a romantic partner, as well as other hobbies. I don't spend every waking moment gaming, it's just what I do after dinner instead of TV. The way you're describing your boyfriend (and his brother), he does have a problem, but his gaming habits are a symptom, not the cause. His problem is that he has no direction in life, and is using the games to fill a void. Psychologically, games like WoW simulate accomplishment and give your brain the same rush that real life accomplishment does, so it can make a good placeholder for someone who doesn't have any real goals yet. If he manages to find his personal niche in life, he may still enjoy his games, but I guarantee he won't be playing 24/7 anymore.
