How do I find out how much I owe in student loans?

Is there any way to get rid of student loans? I am faced with over $90,000 in student loans. I am physically disabled & unemployed.

  • I understand that you can't get rid of student loans in a bankruptcy, but is there any other way to get rid of student loans? It's been 12 years since graduating the University of Miami and I still owe so much in student loans, but I haven't been able to find a job that I even come close to making my payments with money to live. I've already done deferment and forbearance, but they just add to the problem more because interest still accrues and it will take even longer to pay off my student loans. Why do so many people, leaders, politicians, etc. say education is so important in life, but allow people who spend like crazy on credit cards and people who buy houses they couldn't afford be able to get rid of their debt with a bankruptcy or foreclosure, but people like me who mostly only have debt from getting an education have no way to get rid of unaffordable debt. Is there any way to get rid of my student loan debt?

  • Answer:

Yes. Your school debt can be forgiven if you are PERMENTLY disabled and unable to work. It is the law.
