Has anyone tried "deep freeze?

My dog likes freeze-dried liver.. it can be expensive. Anyone tried making it?

    Someone suggested to me that I try contacting the manufacturers or go to their websites... they sometimes sell imperfect product - ie. the pieces were cut too small/big, or it was a little over-dried, etc. Still perfectly safe and still delicious to dogs, not good enough to sell under their brand name, but cheaper as imperfect product.

Freeze drying requires drawing the moisture out of the liver and isn't something you can accomplish using a freezer. You need an actual freeze drying machine. And when you look into buying one of these machines you will find that the reason the companies charge so much for freeze dried fruits and liver is because they need to payoff those outrageously expensive machines. So, you may want to consider dehydrating liver or chicken treats instead. As this can be done with either a dehydrator unit or even using your home oven. Dried Beef Liver Preheat Oven to 250 degrees 1 Lb Beef Liver Garlic Powder 1 - 3 tbsp 1 Lg Pot boiling Water Rinse the beef liver well in cool water. Place the liver in a large pot of boiling water and 1-3 tbsp garlic powder. Use a big enough pot to allow for room to prevent boiling over. Boil for at least 1/2 to 3/4 hr or until cooked well. Let cool, cut into 1/2 inch sq cubes. Spread on a foil lined cookie sheet. Bake in a 250 (or lower) degree oven for at least 2 hrs or until dry to the touch. Liver will be shrunk to about 1/4 inch cubes when done. The liver is very dry when done, and can be stored in the freezer in a freezer ziploc bag.
