How does water affect bean growth?

Will the type of water used affect green bean plant growth?

  • I need to know for a science fair project so if anyone can answer as soon as possible that would be good. Im using purified water and tap water from my house.

  • Answer:

I would always recommend the use of water that is really wet. I have always found this to be of most use. Have you tried bathwater? I find that is always really good for getting things wet.

I think they would although in a short time (like under a month) you may not see the difference in growth. I think you should use distilled water, tap water and mineral water and have at least 10 plants in each group. I assume you are ussing pots and seeding soil so that there already is fertilizer in it. None of the waters including before filtering water have significant nutrients in them.

Your best bet is to use tap water. You can even let it set for a day or so, then pour it on your plants. Filtered water will not have as many nutrients that the plant needs to grow.
