I cannot open word document attachments.

I now have Open Office on my computer. When people send me Word Document attachments, I cannnot open them. How do I get my Word back?

You are probably experiencing exactly the same problem you would experience if you had an older version of MS Office (pre-2007), in that the newer versions of MS Word have abandoned the .doc file type in favour of .docx. The simplest solution would be to get people to send you documents saved in Word 2000 or 2003 format. To open Word in Open Office download the file sent to you and then open with swriter.exe Good luck.
