How to freeze dried blood worms?

Beta fish is losing color, staying at bottom of tank( not swimming), and not eating. I feed him freeze dried blood worms. What is wrong?

  • Is he sick? How do I treat him?

  • Answer:

I agree that he sounds ill, but in regards to your concern of him not eating that could also be because he does not like freeze dried blood worms. Bettas have their preferences as well. I went through several bettas quite a few years ago. For one, I can't remember which one though I was advised to buy more than one type of food and change it up. I remember that I had tried a type of shrimp food(maybe freeze dried, it's been so long) and this betta had not responded to it, had not touched it. But when I tried a type of flake it ate it all the time. So if this betta is able to recover from it's illness and it still does not eat, than try a different food.

He sounds sick. http://www.bettatalk.com/betta_diseases.htm It may be a fungal infection. Depending upon his age you can often treat very successfully if you don't wait to get the meds and get started. And if you are hesitating because you are scared you don't know "for sure" what is wrong, let me tell you that at this point in time with him not eating and losing color you have little to lose by trying to medicate his water.
