What wedding vows do non-believers say at their wedding?

  • Believers always say vows before God the whole time. What are vows that could work for non-believers/Atheists? And if you're marrying someone who is a bit of a believer and they wanted to say vows under God would you just say your own vows and they could say theirs?

    They vow to respect, honor and support each other. To stay faithful to each other, to be together through sickness and health -- hopefully forever. A married couple make these vows to each other ... some do it with a God's blessing, and some do not need that. Either way, wedding vows are between a man and woman with or without "faith" in a higher power.

pretty much the same thing they said before christians copied pagan handfasting and claimed "marraige" as their idea to monoplize it and profit from it. what .?. do you think christians invented promises ? remove god from the topic , and there you have a promise to each other . not a pledge to a god and church , nor selling out your unborn kids by promising to raise any kids you have in the faith.(this is the reason sex out of wedlock is shunned "they lose an automatic recruit ")

do the traditional wedding vows mention god? isn't "to have and to hold, in sickness and in health until death do us part"? why would the content of that vow be changed due to the belief or disbelief in god of the people taking the vow?

The same things all couples in love promise eachother. Dont worry in a few years you will probably fall in love too, then you will know.
