What do you think about the Universal Health Care Plan?

(R) Ryan's budget plan includes large cuts to veterans health care. What do you think of this?

  • Will putting an "I support the troops" bumper sticker on your car help? The House Budget Committee, chaired by Rep. Paul Ryan (R-Wis.), has told a veterans' group it is studying a plan to save $6 billion annually in VA health care costs by canceling enrollment of any veteran who doesn't have a service-related medical condition and is not poor. Committee Republicans, searching for ways to curb federal deficits and rein in galloping VA costs, are targeting 1.3 million veterans who claim priority group 7 or 8 status and have access to VA care. Priority group 8 veterans have no service-connected disabilities and annual incomes, or net worth, that exceed VA means-test thresholds and VA "geographic income" thresholds, which are set by family size. Priority Group 7 veterans also have no service-connected disabilities and their incomes are above the means-test thresholds. But their incomes or net worth fall below the geographic index. In other words, because of where they live, in high cost areas, they likely struggle financially. He is scum! its really that simple. He and his Republican mates will try anything and everything to totally screw the poor and the weak but to try and f*ck over Veterans is the lowest of the lows!!. The saddest thing about this is that others actually will agree with what he wants to do... way to go U.S.A. !

More of the same. Rep. Ryan's plan is devastating to anyone who decides to get old. His block grants to the states will not keep up with inflation, much less need. And having them be paid directly to insurance companies? Can we say massive profits and no oversight? It is currently almost impossible for veterans with service related disabilities to qualify for VA medical benefits. There are literally years of bureaucratic hoops to jump through. In the meantime, you are struggling to buy food, pay rent, and get the medications you need. I know this from personal experience. I have seen people die from service related problems before they could get accepted into the VA medical program. Rep. Ryan has never been poor, or disabled, or in need of assistance. Most of our congress is the same; rich people who have always been rich. They do not know what it is like in the trenches.

I think that the entire system of veterans' benefits should be looked at to make sure that those who truely need help are given it in a fair and timely way. But some of the benefits seem pretty excessive for the service performed.

I think Ryan is a scumbag who talks out of both sides of his mouth. He doesn't want to address defense spending because the contractors are lining his pockets but he is willing to cut off veterans at the knees. http://paulryan.house.gov/ https://paulryan.house.gov/Contact/Email.htm Phone: (202) 225-3031; Fax: (202) 225-3393 Please feel free to the Mr. Ryan what you think.

I think it sucks. 35% of homeless people--if the numbers are accurate--are veterans. They misplace money and spent money on things that are of no benefit to the American people because at best, their priorities are mixed up, and at worse, they don't seem to have a f***ing clue what the priorities really are. So the only way these lack of imagination, and lack of initiative, clueless bums in Washignton can come up with to try to fix their own incompetence, is by further screwing up the already screwed up and struggling people.

I never forget that the State as an entity is always on the look out to murder who they can when they can and to import others to do the jobs that businesses need done and I ask myself just who and what am I serving and for what... ~Nemo~

If those Repuplican assholes want to save money, get the hell out of the middle east. Wars cost money and create disabled veterans.....

Totally sucks, i have no medical insurance other than the VA. (Can't afford it) they used to call me in once every 6 months to renew prescriptions and to give me a check up. it seems now they have cut that out too. They have spent years doing tests etc and making these medical decisions, and now they have let my prescriptions expire, and all of these things they said were necessary and i needed to take... so now cold turkey so to speak. jeez, just think if i trusted them with my life or something. lol anyway, didn't really think i needed any of those drugs anyway. ..so that's what i think of that personally, so to me as you can see i'm not really hurting. ....however, there are a lot of vet's out there that are really hurting, are already having severe problems, and they will be affected... ..meanwhile Congress rakes in there fat paychecks
