What are the best jazz songs?

In your own opinion, who is one of the best jazz piano players (that solo), and, what songs can I listen to to hear that?

Oscar Peterson. He usually played with a band, but here is a video of him playing solo. And I can't resist. "Hymn to Freedom" is my favorite song of all time. Even though a band plays with him, you can still see how wonderful he was. Enjoy!

You go by labels, usually. Modern jazz is on BlueNote, Legacy. Both are Columbia. John Surman and Keith Jarrett are also modern, and he is on ECM. Then some older progressive, or maybe now, is on GRP. Atlantic has both modern musicians and pianists and contemporary. The labels or companies are pretty possessive of their artists, because like modern is a relatively small school. So that is where nearly all of a musicians material is, on those given recording labels. ..
