Should I get rimless glasses?

Do my eyes have to get used to near sighted glasses?

  • I just got new glasses from the eye doctor a few days ago. Note: This is the first time at this Doctor. I’m near sighted and haven’t worn glasses in about 6 months (accidentally broke them). When I was at the eye doctors and put them on, one of the first things out of my mouth was “Did my prescription increase, they don’t feel right?” I was then asked if I have ever worn glasses by the Doctors assistant. I said yeah, 6 months ago. She informs me “Well it takes a little while to get used to glasses”. My prescription was increased one “step” in each eye. The glasses clear up my vision but it’s so much easier on my eyes without them. All the other times I’ve had new glasses I remember immediately being in focus and not wanting to take them off. No issues with my polarized prescription sunglasses that I got about 18 months ago with the now broken pair.

Glasses should improve your vision, not make it worse. If you are feeling strain, and have difficulty with focusing, then either the test wasn't performed correctly, the lenses were not produced correctly, or your eyes changed very suddenly in the interim.
