How effective is tea tree oil on?

How exactly is tea tree oil supposed to heal an infection?

  • It seems like all my piercings got infected at one time and everything I read is telling me to use tea tree oil. So far the outside bump on my nose is gone and the one on the inside of my nose is shrinking but the one on the outside of my Monroe piercing plays with me. It shrunk in the beginning but now it's bigger then it was before and full of blood. There's no puss just blood and I don't want to have to go to my doctor again. so how long am I supposed to wait for it to actually shrink and dissapear? Am I using the tea tree oil wrong?

  • Answer:

I agree. Keep an eye on the infection and go in if it is not improving. Tea tree oil is a great antiseptic but it isn't going to kill an infection that is getting out of control. It works particularly well for gingivitis, though it is not the best tasting thing in the world.

It kills bacteria...but if the infection is serious you may need something stronger. Like an antiseptic or maybe even an antibiotic. Best see a doctor.
