Do most dvd players support mpeg audio?

How come DVD players can do MPEG-2 videos but not MPEG-4 videos?

  • Answer:

Newer DVD players probably can because it's a software upgrade that's needed as opposed to a change in the disc format and hardware (which is why DVD players will never play Bluray discs and CD/LD/SVCD players will never play either).
