Is this true? Oh My God! On earth six million children die of hunger every year, 17,000 every day. Do we live on an earth full of Hitlers ?

Wealth of world’s richest rose nearly 10 percent in 2010 By Chris Marsden 25 June 2011 Austerity measures, wage cuts and rising unemployment have characterised the years since the crash of 2008 for working people. For the rich and super-rich, however, they have been the occasion for clawing back every penny of the initial losses made and adding a great deal more. Today, the world’s wealthy are richer than before the crash and the number of individuals belonging to this highly exclusive club has grown. The annual world wealth report by Merrill Lynch and Capgemini identifies nearly 11 million “high net worth individuals” (HNWIs), defined as having more than $1 million in free cash, not including property and pensions. Their collective wealth reached $42.7 trillion in 2010, a 9.7 percent rise. This means that the wealth of this social layer has already surpassed the previous peak of $40.7 trillion reached in 2007. The number of individuals worldwide who fall into this category grew 8.3 percent in 2010. This is described as a return to a “more sustainable pace,” following the 17 percent growth in the number of HNWIs to 10 million recorded in last year’s report. To make clear the scale of individual wealth accumulation these figures represent, one needs to factor in the results for what are termed “ultra-high net worth individuals,” defined as having at least $30 million in free cash. The numbers in this group rose by 10 percent, to just 103,000. But their assets rose by 11.5 percent, giving then control of $15 trillion. That means that the top one percent of the world’s rich controls fully 36 percent of their collective assets.... ....The World Bank defines extreme poverty as living on less than US $1.25 per day, and moderate poverty as living on less than $2 a day. In 2001, some 1.1 billion people lived on less than $1 a day and 2.7 billion on less than $2 a day. Almost half of the world’s people—3 billion souls—live on less than $2.5

Answer:
Why, oh why, do people think that this is somehow unusual? There are nearly 7 BILLION people on this planet and despite the fact that tens of millions of us die every year of all manner of deaths, that population is STILL GROWING. 6 million represents LESS THAN 0.09% of the total population! Am I heartless about this? No. I'm simply realistic about something that, in the grand scheme of things, doesn't seem to matter! About 140,000,000 people are BORN EVERY YEAR. About 57,000,000 people DIE EVERY YEAR. So, for every person who dies of starvation, nearly 9 others die of something else. And for every person who dies of starvation, nearly 30 are born. For every death of any kind, nearly 3 are born. We, as compassionate human beings, LOVE to go on and on about how horrible it is for people to die of this or that, how tragic it is or how unfair it is. That's part of our human nature. But the fact of the matter is that we ALL MUST DIE. There is nothing "unfair" about death, itself. It's part of the cycle of life. Not only that, but if we don't face up to our own mortality and get a grip on reality, our population will CONTINUE to add billions upon billions more to the total. We need to look around us at what happens in nature when ANY species becomes too numerous. What happens? Eventually they reach the end of their resources...and STARVE to death. Unless a predator species is introduced against which they have no defense, in which case the species dies off as the predator species booms in population...until the cycle asserts itself against the predators when the food species depeletes and they, too, starve off. Is it tragic that so many die of starvation? You betcha. Just as it's tragic that so many die of murder, wars, and disease. But die we MUST. Here's a thought for you: if it weren't for the advances the human race has already made in so many areas, it would not have been possible for the human race to achieve a population of 7 billion already. So it's not exactly for want of trying or compassion that 6 million starve to death each year. If we continue our growing population trend, then we, as a species, had better face up to reality and realize that we MUST get a handle on this. Because we cannot sustain it in the long run. A balance must be acheived, one way or the other...either by us, or imposed by Mother Nature herself. Death, in all her varieties, no matter how tragic, is an inseperable part of life. The ultimate tragedy would be to continue in denial of this fact and doom our entire species to an ignominious end.

... i once witnessed a village of starving children and a dying baby trying to suckle on a dry withered breast of a beautiful [even though severely malnourished] young women in Uganda, and it forever changed my whole outlook on our consumer based society and our priorities. For increasing thousands on this earth to have billions of dollars each while a billion slowly die through lack of food or clean water is truly a global perversion of the sickest order {or shall we just call it 'neo-fascist-vulture-capitalism' } ...

NO we live on a planet that has an over population of a single creature that has impacted the rest of nature to the point of NON-sustainability of a variety of different species that is why there is an on going mass extinction in progress and there is no light at the end of that tunnel under the present way of doing things because it's NOT sustainable and it may take CENTURIES before the planet recovers IF it ever does and I highly doubt that Homo-sapiens will be here irrelevant of when and IF that happens ... ~Nemo~

It is a sad state of affairs, all because of greed and lack of concern for the poor people of the world.
Hitler didn't kill 6 million kids. The wealthy getting wealthier during a recession is nothing new.
MisterKnowItAll
Not quite. Hitler intentionally had his goons murder people. The obscenely rich are guilty of murder by apathy - they seriously don't give a firetruck.

Sad isn't it?
