Why does my computer have trouble printing to a network printer? It works fine for the computer its hooked up to.

I am running windows 7 and so is the computer its hooked up to and the printer is hp2400 photo smart. My husband has tried many things. Usually when i delete it, then add it back, it will work for a day then go back to the error.

Hummm well I still think it has something to do with the port your PC thinks the Printer is on and if you set it to a fixed port on the computer the printer is connected to and then set the printer on your PC I think that would fix it...if not then I'm at a loss sorry..

My guess is it's your port setting through your router...when the printer goes in power down mode it's dropping it's assigned DSN from the router and when it comes back on line it gets a new number but Win7 is still trying to print to the original number it has assigned to that printers port. You can go into your router settings and dedicate a permanent number for the printer that won't change, set the same umber on your printer... Also go to the HP site and download the latest driver for Windows 7
