How do I get rid of my hay fever?

why do I get a sort of hay-fever, when I swim for a long time, and how can I get rid of it?

  • Answer:

If its an allergic reaction, it most likely is to the chemical used in the pool. If you swim in a river/stream there may be something in the water you are sensitive too. If its not an allergic reaction then most likely you are getting enough water up the nose to irritate and cause the sinuses to act up. If it is a swimming pool the culprit is the chlorine. Try swimming in a natural body of water (pond, lake, stream) and see what happens.

If you are swimming in chlorine, STOP! There are safer alternatives to purify the water.

Thanks, Athrael. It looks like it's the chlorine, then. Unfortunalely, I don't have any choice. Too bad. I'll just have to put up with it.
