How to get itunes to sync to ipod nano 6th generation?

my itunes stopped syncing music to my ipod and i don't know why. every time i put in my ipod and push the button 'sync' it just says (up above) finished syncing don't disconnect. but i look on my ipod and the songs i added are not on there. i tried pushing the restore button to restore it but i just says "the ipod software update server could not be contacted." i think something may be wrong with my itunes but i don't know what. the update button doesn't even work. i even went to the music section at the top and pushed sync music, that didn't work. so any advice you can give would be great. thanks!

Well it usually it connects automatically whenever you connect your ipod to your itunes. Try to update the software version of both ipod and itunes.
