How to download a youtube video?

How do I download a video from Youtube and turn parts of the video into images (Please Help)?

  • If you want, you can explain to me how to do it OR you can give me a link to a website that can show me how to do this. 1.) I want to know how to download videos from youtube and have them on my computer. 2.) I want to know how to take snap shots of those videos. For example, I want to pause 12 seconds into the video and i want to take a snapshot of the video in that second. 3.) I want to turn that snapshot into an actual image like a .jpg format image That's all i want to do. I know nothing about computer stuff so i need advice on how to do this. Basically it's just downloading videos, taking snapshots, and turning them into images. THANKS!!

Well first off if you know where your temporary internet files are than you already have the youtube videos that you have watched...at least until you clean out your system next time. I have win7 and use ccleaner, not only does it clean files out but you can analize and see a list and then open file location to get in these hidden files (even tho i have all files unhid) Usually if you keep your system cleaned out daily their will only be 4-12 folders with image, video, css,js etc etc...If all you are looking at is a few favicons than you are in the wrong bunch of folders scroll further down the ccleaner list and pick something with jpg or whatever. Now sort by type..youtube i believe is usually an flv file that you can view in real player to ensure that it downloaded correctly. 2) I had to reread this. pause 12 seconds and take a SNAPSHOT..ok got it now. For a minute had misread and wasnt sure if you wanted to capture a second witch could be like 12 frames or more for an animated gif but now i see, sorry. If your looking for quick crude and low tech. than i can sum up requests 2 & 3 really quickly. play the video and pause it where you want the pic..you may have to try a couple of times to get it "just" right. and do a screen save. This will take a snapshot of your entire computer screen. Dont have PS or a fancy editor..no prob MS Paint is lame as shit but IT WILL get the job done. Between the select all tool and the rectangular select tool you can trim off all the unwanted information and thus save the movie image. Move the sliders click the little box in the corner and pull the image to size deleting all of that white screen you will be seeing. If you had sophisticated software..most of the good video editors have a feature called "jog" if you know about where your image is than you can go frame to frame thru a video and get it
