What are the positive aspects of the death penalty?

When do you think the Death Penalty should be imposed?

  • In texas, which is where I'm from, and other states, Inmates are often given the death penalty even if they are not responsible for the crime. If their friend committed the murder but they were at the scene, they could also face the death penalty. I think in that situation, the person should only be charged with manslaughter since they did not commit the murder. Also, if someone pleas guilty, they should receive life in prison rather than the death penalty. John Gardener plead guilty two counts of first-degree murder in California and was spared the death penalty since he confessed to his crimes. However, in a lot of states, a confession still results in a death sentence. I think the death penalty should only be imposed if the person murdered a child. Otherwise, life without a parole should be the sentence. Every state has certain crimes that are considered capital offenses. In texas, the murder of anyone under the age of six is a capital offense. In Kansas, the age is 12. I think the murder of any child under the age of 16 should result in the death penalty, especially if the killer tortured and raped the victim before killing them. What is your opinion on the death penalty? when should it be imposed?

  • Answer:

A malfunctioning machine, that cannot be repaired and may cause harm, is deactivated and discarded. There are those among us who are malfunctioning. They enjoy killing, raping, molesting, torturing, etc. These are malfunctioning with no hope of repair. To allow them near anyone else would cause harm. So, it's necessary to deactivate them and discard them. Cold as it may be, this is my opinion.

no life with out parole should exist and death penalty should only exist when they have full proof someone harmed a child. The government should not be able to murder someone without full proof or because of one mistake. Like I said save it for child killers. Casey anthony should have got life. then another lady killed new born twins. She is not in jail. Other people are going to think this shit is ok now. then one guy kills a cop with a gun and gets death penalty. And because he was a cop thats why. If he was just another guy on the street he would have gotten a few years

Life without parole shouldn't exist, the death penalty should.

I'll first note that I don't support the death penalty under any circumstances. That said, I found myself disagreeing particularly with a few of the points made in your description. If those who plead guilty are exempt from the death penalty, then I suspect this would sharply increase the likelihood of an innocent person making a false confession to ensure that their lives are not at risk. Detectives are very good at making the future seem hopeless for a suspected criminal, and someone in such a position, being told that they are absolutely going to be found guilty and have nothing to look forward to but a needle, might lie to escape it, instead of fighting for the truth as they should. Why is the murder of an innocent child any more revolting than the murder of an innocent adult? Killing an elderly woman makes me just as ill as killing a young child, or killing a middle-aged father as he returns home from the grocery store.
