Which is the better display for macbook pro: matte or glossy?

I bought macbook pro 15, w/ 2.2 GHz & AMD Rad. 6750 & on the sticker on top of box it says: LED-backlit glossy widescreen display

  • Does that mean it has the glossy screen, as opposed to the antiglare? need to know because I can't open box if I want to return it

  • Answer:

I'm thinking that if it says "glossy", then the screen is glossy and not anti-glare. I never seriously checked out Apple products last year when I was in the market for a new laptop for a variety of unrelated reasons. But it seems to me that finding a screen that isn't glossy is a lot more difficult than it used to be. I looked on Apple's website here: http://www.apple.com/why-mac/compare/notebooks.html If you scroll down for your particular computer, you will see the following spec for the display: "15.4 inch LED backlit glossy widescreen display (high-resolution glossy or antiglare option available)" This tells me that you do NOT have the antiglare option. If antiglare is what you want, then you need to contact Apple and tell them that this is the option you wish to have on your laptop. There might be an added cost for this, which you will have to pay for.
