Where to buy stamps in Philadelphia?

How come food stamps recipients can buy soda, chips and doughnuts with their ebt card but not hot baked chicken or hot potatoes?

  • is this cause thats prepared food or hot food or something? What kind of rule is this? What if the people on food stamps were so poor that they didnt have a microwave or oven and had sleep in a cardboard box? Wouldnt it be better if they could buy cooked food in the supermarket instead of raw uncooked food? And isnt hot food such better than soda, chips, cookies and cakes which they can buy? In case you dont understand, people on food stamps who get free money by the tax payers are CAN BUY THIS! I've heard things are going to change pretty soon and it's about time. I'm not sure I am for allowing cooked food though. I would rather see the money spent on employing educators to teach food preperation and feed the needy in local community kitchens. Also education about the use and production of local food could create jobs and be a boost to local econimies. It wouldn't be easy but people need to go to work on it for financial and health reasons.

If they allowed that then they would have to allow you to go to McDonalds and Burger King etc. I have no problem with them covering soda, doughnuts etc. Most people do buy real food that they go home and prepare with their food stamps.
