Why do some people wear shoes in their homes?

Why do so many people not wear shoes any more?

  • I have a part-time job delivering meals to shut-ins and most of them come to the door barefooted or just wearing slippers. I see people out on the street even in sub-freezing weather with just sandals and wonder why they don't wear something more substantial in the cold. I've gone to other people's homes and have been made to take my shoes off at the door. I always wear full shoes except when in the bathtub or in bed. Why such a reluctance to wear substantial foot coverings?

really i didnt know it, but i am guessing because they are melting from their toes .

Is this really a huge concern of yours? We don't wear shoes in our house and it would be a PITA to put on shoes just to answer the door for the 30 seconds it take to greet a delivery person.
