How can i connect my wii to the internet wired?

I have a wired router connecting tv/phn/internet. Can I add a wireless router to connect w/my WII or will it interfere?

  • Answer:

You can configure a wireless router as an access point, without using its router function. Most wireless routers come with a few wired connections. To use one as an access point, you run an Ethernet cable from your existing wired network to one of the ordinary points. In the setup for your wireless router, you then disable the router function. Give it a hard IP address, in the range above the DHCP range set up for the wired router. Most wireless routers come with instructions on using them this way.

Thanks for the info. You hit it right on the head. If it weren't for everything being connected to the same cable, I wouldn't be so concerned. I'll check w/my cable company. Thanks again.
