I wanted to buy a new one when my original gave way after just 2 yrs of use. So I did not want to buy Sony batteries now. At the low price, I bought two, just for back up. This one should keep the charge for about 45% longer. The worry I have: It is 3.6V, when the original is 3.5V. I know that should not make a big difference, especially as the actual voltage when fully charged is higher and goes down with use and so 3.6 is just the average. Also, no company name on it! Generics without any company name scare me. Is it illegal? Is it so poor quality that the company would not give its name to it? What you see in the Amazon picture is exactly what you see on the battery, on BOTH sides! Looks shady to me. If I had known this before I would have gone for a little high priced one but with a company name on it and have a peace of mind. I thought Amazon would never sell a product with absolutely no company name on it. Poor quality batteries can even damage your electronics. I think I will update this post a few months later to let you know if I had any problems, but with no company name who am I even targeting with this review? The stock Sony Np - BG1 batteries may last about 1.5 hours of nonstop HD video camera, and roughly 1.5 hours of taking pictures. So far, these batteries don't quite match the performance of the Sony batteries, but it's fairly close. My experiences: - I love the time indication. Unlike the Sony original batteries, these batteries tells you approximately how much time in battery you have left. So useful when you're in times in which you need to know much time you have left. Personally, for me, I've had to take video and not knowing how much time I have left is unprofessional. These batteries give me a good idea of when to prepare for swapping another battery. - Packaging. The two batteries come in their own boxes. I was not expecting that at all. It's a small detail that gives me convenience and peace in mind that the batteries will be safe and secure. - Battery life. Through some mild to heavy usuage of my camera, I've experience good battery life. For 12m and 8m shots, I can get roughly 100 minutes of battery life. For HD Video, a little less than 100 minutes. - Value. The sony stock batteries cost roughly $25, while TWO of these cost barely 15. These batteries are a must have for anybody who plans on enjoying their days without having to worry about going out of battery.
