(Electronics) I got this mic when Amazon had it for a great price, and have been very pleased with it. For vocals and other some applications like acoustic instruments, I recommend running the mic through a tube pre-amp to warm up the sound, as it's a bit bright sound. I use the ART Tube MP Studio Mic Preamp and it sounds much better, nice and quiet and much warmer. (Electronics) I have been recording acoustic guitar direct for some time as I have a couple Taylors with the expression system which provides a beautiful clear recorded sound. But what was missing from my sound was that 3-dimensional depth and clarity heard on professional finger style records. The AKG 220 has given me exactly what I was looking for. It's like you can hear a nicely recorded guitar or you can hear flesh on steel resonating off solid wood. That's what the AKG provided. Initially I was not too happy with it, but that was more from my inexperience with proper mic placement. Once I found the sweet spot and toyed with my signal chain and gain stages I realized I had an awesome tool in my project studio that will upgrade my recordings.
