Guess it was due to the stresses of traveling. I saw this in the in flight magazines every time I flew and decided to give it a try. Nothing worse than showing up at a business meeting with a big cold sore on the bottom lip! After six months, I THINK that it works. Since I started using it, I have gotten far fewer cold sores and they are far less severe. I don't really know if it's the DermaSeptic because I still use the ice cube trick, Abreava, and Campho-Phenique. Regarding the conducting gel that comes with this, I found that alcohol hand cleaning gel works just as well and I like the idea of it being an antiseptic. Also, the Campho-Phenique gel works, too, although I only use it on the part that touches my lip. On the side of the device, I use the cheaper hand cleaning gel.
