How open is IT field for entry level?

What's a good entry level job to apply for in the medical billing field?

  • I am currently in school for medical coding and billing. When I finish up in a few months, I will be applying for jobs. I will have a national certification if all keeps going well. I have a propensity for working with numbers and obsessively pay attention to details and accuracy. I'm thinking of aiming toward the insurance side of employment. Any opinions what specific job titles I could realistically start at? I've never been in this field so I don't know where I could potentially begin.

  • Answer:

A lot of people just out of school have a challenging time getting a job because so many job postings ask for a minimum of 3 to 5 years experience. Take advantage of any intern or mentor program if offered through your school. When preparing your resume make sure you take credit for any experience you have - and try to relate it to the medical billing and coding field. For example if you are good with computers, the different operating systems, and figuring out different software applications make sure you emphasize that. Most jobs and systems in physicians offices, hospitals, and clinics make use of electronic medical records and practice management software. An employee who can get up to speed - or has good technology skills - and understands the coding and billing process is valuable. http://www.all-things-medical-billing.com
